The victim, identified as 43-year-old Yuki, a teacher from Japan, reportedly intended to catch the Airport Rail Link from Makkasan station. However, he mistakenly entered a poorly lit, overgrown area adjacent to the station. As he attempted to exit this secluded spot, a group of six teenagers on two motorcycles approached him. The youths, described as appearing no older than 15, emerged from the direction of Soi Asok-Din Daeng 30.
According to accounts, the teenagers demanded money, repeatedly saying “money, money.” When Yuki stated he had none, the group forcibly restrained him. He was then struck on the back of the head three times with a rock, estimated to be about the size of a fist, and was also punched in the mouth. Despite the severe assault, Yuki managed to break free and flee the scene to find help.
Bystander Provides Crucial Assistance
A 44-year-old man named Athit, who was resting in his vehicle nearby, witnessed the aftermath of the attack. He recounted hearing shouting from the overgrown area before two motorcycles sped out and headed towards the road alongside Bueng Makkasan. Shortly after, Yuki ran towards him, visibly injured and bleeding from the mouth.
Athit immediately assisted Yuki, taking him to a local hospital for treatment. During their conversation, Athit learned about the sequence of events: Yuki’s accidental entry into the wooded area, his subsequent confrontation with the youths, and the brutal assault when he could not provide money. Yuki had informed the attackers that he was not Thai, but this did not deter them.
