Southern Thailand Braces for Significant Rainfall
Two provinces in southern Thailand, Ranong and Phangnga, are on alert for heavy downpours expected to persist for a minimum of two days. The national weather service has issued a warning for these areas, anticipating a significant increase in precipitation.
In addition to the severe weather forecast for the south, 24 other provinces nationwide are expected to experience moderate rainfall. This includes the greater Bangkok metropolitan area, with the forecast for these regions primarily covering Sunday.
Maritime Warnings Issued
Concerns have also been raised regarding maritime conditions. High seas are anticipated in the provincial waters of Ranong, Phangnga, and Phuket. These conditions are deemed dangerous for smaller vessels, prompting advisories for local boat operators.
Meanwhile, coastal areas in Krabi, Trang, and Satun are expected to experience less severe maritime activity, with only small waves predicted.
Recent Flooding Reported
The country experienced substantial rainfall on Saturday, with Chon Buri and its surrounding provinces, along with Greater Bangkok, encountering heavy downpours. This led to localized flooding on several roadways in the capital. The most impacted districts identified by the weather department include Taling Chan, Thawi Watthana, Bangkok Noi, Bang Phlad, Dusit, Chatuchak, Lak Si, and Don Muang.
