Tragedy Unfolds at Pattaya Petrol Station
A father is demanding justice after his daughter, Kanoknika, allegedly died following an assault by her 16-year-old boyfriend at her workplace in Pattaya. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on June 4 at a petrol station located on Sukhumvit Road. Kanoknika was working overtime at the time of the incident.
Initial Reports and Father’s Discovery
Somporn, the victim’s 54-year-old father, stated that he was contacted late at night by one of his daughter’s colleagues. The colleague informed him that Kanoknika had fainted. Upon arriving at the petrol station, Somporn found his daughter lying unconscious inside the convenience store. A rescue team attempted resuscitation efforts but were unsuccessful in reviving her. Medical professionals later continued resuscitation before transporting her to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, where she was officially pronounced deceased.
Conflicting Accounts Emerge
Initially, colleagues informed Somporn that his daughter may have collapsed due to consuming a significant amount of kratom and energy drinks, suggesting this could have contributed to her condition. However, Somporn later reviewed CCTV footage from the petrol station. He claims this footage shows his daughter being physically assaulted by her boyfriend, who is also a 16-year-old co-worker.
CCTV Footage Allegations
According to Somporn, the video shows the teenage boyfriend returning to the workplace on a motorcycle after his shift had concluded. The couple were observed arguing, and the situation reportedly escalated. Somporn alleges that the boyfriend struck his daughter multiple times until she collapsed. He further stated that she then experienced a seizure before losing consciousness.
Boyfriend’s Statement
The 16-year-old boyfriend, speaking to Channel 7, stated that he did not intend to cause her death. He admitted to arguing with Kanoknika and confirmed that he pulled her, after which she collapsed and had a seizure.
Ongoing Investigation and Funeral Rites
Somporn has transported his daughter’s body to Kalasin province for funeral rites. He has indicated that the cremation will be delayed until he receives justice. He has urged the police to take action in the case.
Officials at Bang Lamung Police Station confirmed that they are currently gathering evidence. They stated that legal action will proceed if the ongoing investigation and autopsy findings corroborate the allegations.
