A ride-hailing service driver has been sentenced to one month in jail, suspended for one year, for assaulting a passenger. The incident occurred following a dispute during a journey near Asok intersection earlier this week.
The altercation involved a 52-year-old passenger and the 23-year-old driver. Reports indicate the disagreement escalated from issues concerning the fare and traffic conditions.
Incident Details Emerge
The passenger has acknowledged using profane language and kicking the driver’s seat. In response, the driver confessed to attacking the individual after instructing him to exit the vehicle.
Court Ruling and Penalties
The court found the young driver guilty of causing bodily harm, alongside related traffic offenses. Prior to the court’s decision, administrative charges were resolved with a fine of 3,000 baht.
The suspended jail sentence means the driver will avoid immediate incarceration, provided he adheres to the terms of his probation for the next year.
