American National Detained After Alleged Hotel Assault and Damage Spree
A United States national, identified as Alexander, is facing accusations of assaulting a female employee and causing significant property damage across two separate hotel establishments in Chon Buri province. Following the alleged incidents, he was reportedly ordered to provide compensation to those affected.
The events unfolded on the morning of June 9, when Alexander, who had reportedly been previously barred from the hotel due to prior disturbances, approached the reception desk of a Chon Buri province hotel. According to Pennapa, a receptionist at the establishment, Alexander attempted to extend his stay.
Allegations of Assault and Property Destruction
Pennapa informed Alexander that his request could not be accommodated as he had been blacklisted. Reports indicate that Alexander insisted his booking had already been extended and paid for via an online platform. Pennapa then advised him to seek a refund through the booking service. During this exchange, Pennapa alleged that Alexander became enraged, seized her mobile phone, and threw it to the ground, causing damage to the device.
Further accusations include claims that Alexander attempted to strangle Pennapa and threw a punch, which she managed to evade. The receptionist also stated that the accused damaged property within the reception area and directed verbal abuse in both Thai and English.
Video footage circulated online appears to depict a man exhibiting aggressive behavior within the hotel premises, including making insulting gestures towards staff. At one point, the footage seemed to show the individual engaging in an act suggestive of masturbation.
Police Intervention and Subsequent Arrest
Law enforcement was called to the scene and detained Alexander. Pennapa reported that he agreed to pay 10,000 baht in compensation for the damaged mobile phone and stated he needed to withdraw cash from a bank. However, she claimed he subsequently left the police station and did not return.
Later that same day, the accused reportedly returned to the hotel and attempted to access a room he had previously occupied. Police were summoned for a second time and, according to reports, apprehended him after a pursuit that extended beyond the hotel grounds.
Previous Incidents and Unclear Penalties
Pennapa indicated that while police eventually addressed the situation, she was not privy to any specific legal penalties imposed on Alexander. She also alleged that the same American national had previously damaged the gate of another nearby hotel. This earlier incident allegedly occurred after hotel staff confronted him for attempting to partake in breakfast without being a registered guest.
