A Thai man issues a stark warning after thieves allegedly drugged him with spiked orange juice during a camera sale at a Bangkok university, stealing photography equipment valued at 85,000 baht.
Details of the Deceptive Meeting
The victim had listed his used camera and accessories for 85,000 baht across several Facebook groups. A woman, known only as P, contacted him and set up a meeting at Ramkhamhaeng University on the evening of Sunday, May 10.
P explained she needed time to withdraw cash and asked the seller to wait with her daughter at the campus. She also requested his help with her daughter’s university project, which he agreed to provide.
The Drugging Incident
At the designated spot, the victim handed over the camera gear for inspection. While assisting with the project, P’s daughter offered him orange juice to taste and give feedback on.
Within five minutes of drinking it, he felt dizzy and disoriented. He struggled to walk before blacking out completely.
He awoke inside his own vehicle to find both the daughter and his equipment missing. Attempts to reach P for payment went unanswered.
Police Investigation Underway
The victim believes sedatives or sleeping pills tainted the juice and has filed charges at Hua Mak Police Station for robbery and attempted murder, citing the potential for severe harm or death.
Hua Mak Police Station’s superintendent confirms investigators have identified the two suspects. They allegedly tried to resell the stolen gear online. Authorities are collecting evidence for arrest warrants.
Police recommend the victim undergo medical tests to detect any intoxicating substances in the juice, which could strengthen the case.
