Rescuers in Sikhio district freed two dogs trapped inside a sweltering car parked at Talat Nork market since morning. The windows were only slightly ajar, and by midday, the animals faced extreme heat.
Dramatic Scene Captured on Video
Online footage revealed a white dog huddled under the driver’s seat, while a brown dog desperately wedged its head through the narrow window gap. With its tongue extended and neck limp, the brown dog could neither escape nor retreat, highlighting the peril of the situation.
Swift Action by Market Vendors and Officials
Concerned vendors acted quickly by dousing the vehicle with water to lower the temperature and alerted the Sikhio Municipality’s civil defence unit. Upon arrival, officers pried open the car door and easily extracted the white dog. The brown dog, however, remained stuck, requiring assistance from a motorcycle taxi driver who lifted the animal as rescuers guided its head free. A relieved crowd watched as both dogs were safely rescued.
Owner Returns and Apologizes
The car’s owner soon returned, apologizing for the extended absence during an errand that ran longer than anticipated.
Urgent Warning on Pet Safety
The civil defence unit head issued a stark advisory, cautioning against leaving pets or children in parked vehicles during hot weather, even with cracked windows. Interior temperatures in sun-exposed cars can soar to dangerous levels in minutes, posing severe risks.
