Border Crossings Stay Closed Amid Reopening Rumors
Authorities have definitively stated that all border checkpoints in Sa Kaeo province remain fully closed, countering recent claims of reopening. The Sa Kaeo Provincial Public Relations Office issued a public advisory, unequivocally labeling reports of checkpoint reopenings as false information. No border crossings within the province have been reactivated under current regulations.
Government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek has also called on the public to disregard circulating rumors. Provincial officials have released a formal statement reinforcing that the permanent Ban Khlong LuekâPoipet border crossing, located in Aranyaprathet district, continues to be shut. No directive has been issued to permit the reopening of any checkpoint in the province.
Governor Urges Reliance on Official Information
Sa Kaeo Governor Parinya Phothisat emphasized the importance of obtaining information from verified and credible sources to prevent misinformation and potential misunderstandings among residents. He urged the public to exercise caution and rely solely on official announcements for updates regarding border status.
Immigration Police Confirm Strict Closure
Pol Col Rung Thongmon, the chief of Sa Kaeo Immigration Police, corroborated the official stance, confirming that all border checkpoints within the province are “100% closed” as part of ongoing security measures. He stated, “There has been no reopening for the public, students, or business operators to travel in and out as normal. Every crossing point remains shut.”
Immigration officials clarified that any observed movement across the border is strictly limited to humanitarian cases or individuals with legally authorized passage. These instances do not signify a general reopening of the checkpoints. Examples of such authorized crossings include Thai nationals requiring urgent medical treatment abroad.
