Pattaya Resident Flees Apartment After Fire Escape Intrusion
Security camera footage in Pattaya has documented a startling incident where an unidentified man scaled a fire escape and gained entry into a woman’s fourth-floor apartment. The resident has since vacated the premises due to significant safety concerns following the break-in, which occurred while she was out.
Incident Details Emerge
The victim, identified as 22-year-old saleswoman Prarthana Thongmali from Songkhla province, filed a report with local authorities at Nong Prue Police Station. The event took place on June 1 at approximately 6:55 PM in an apartment building located in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri.
Upon returning to her residence on the fourth floor after purchasing dinner, Ms. Thongmali observed one of her two cats exhibiting unusual behavior, hiding beneath the bed. This behavior was described as unprecedented for the animal. Further inspection revealed that her indoor CCTV camera had been dislodged and its power source disconnected.
CCTV Footage Reveals Intruder’s Actions
Reviewing the available surveillance footage, Ms. Thongmali observed a Thai male, estimated to be between his early twenties and early thirties, dressed in a T-shirt and dark trousers. The footage shows the individual ascending the external fire escape ladder at the rear of the building around the time of the incident, subsequently entering through a rear window.
Once inside the apartment, the intruder was seen moving around the room and activating the lights before the camera was apparently knocked over, interrupting the recording.
Concerns Over Intentions and Relocation
A thorough check of her belongings indicated that nothing appeared to have been stolen. Ms. Thongmali informed the police that she did not recognize the man and suspects his motive was not theft, but rather to cause harm. She expressed relief at having been absent from the apartment during the intrusion.
“After this, I contacted my boyfriend’s family to discuss the situation,” Ms. Thongmali stated. “I immediately decided to pack my things and move out because I no longer feel safe here. I urge the police to track down this man and take legal action against him.”
Authorities are currently reviewing the evidence and investigating the incident to identify and apprehend the suspect.
