Five Indian nationals have been apprehended in Bangkok in connection with the kidnapping and ransom of three of their compatriots in the popular Thai tourist city of Pattaya. The arrests occurred as the suspects were reportedly preparing to leave Thailand, signaling a swift response from law enforcement to a serious criminal incident.
Arrest and Identification of Suspects
Authorities detained the five Indian men at a hotel in Bangkok’s Khlong Tan area. Their apprehension took place as they were allegedly awaiting an outbound flight, suggesting an attempt to evade capture. The individuals identified by police are Avtar Singh (38), Jagjit Singh (38), Rambalak Kumar (24), Sukhbir Singh (37), and Kulra Singh (27).
Alleged Kidnapping Scheme and Ransom Demands
Information emerging from the investigation indicates a sophisticated plot orchestrated from abroad. According to statements made by the suspects to police at the Pattaya station, a Pakistani national, whom they reportedly connected with via a chat application over the preceding month, masterminded the operation. This alleged mastermind is believed to be based in Dubai.
The plan, as described by the arrested individuals, involved them kidnapping three Indian victims. The ultimate goal was to extort ransom payments, reportedly to be transferred in digital currency to the Dubai-based orchestrator. In return for their alleged participation, the apprehended men were promised a share of valuables and cash seized from the abductees, along with air tickets to facilitate their escape from Thailand.
Victims Lured and Rescued
The three victims were reportedly enticed to Pattaya under the guise of an attractive travel deal. They were offered a seemingly affordable tour package for a seven-day holiday. However, upon arrival, the situation took a sinister turn as they were allegedly detained and subjected to mistreatment in a house located in Pattaya.
Fortunately, law enforcement intervention led to the successful rescue of the victims. They were reportedly freed on Monday evening
