Italy has expressed significant interest in recruiting between 20,000 and 30,000 Thai workers each year. This initiative aims to fill labor shortages in key sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and the service industry.
Expanding Labor Importation
Reports indicate that Italy is planning to import approximately 500,000 workers from nations outside the European Union. The Thai Labour Minister, Julapun Amornvivat, was briefed on this proposal by the Italian ambassador.
Proposed Memorandum of Understanding
To formalize this labor demand, the Thai Labour Minister has put forward a proposal for both Thailand and Italy to sign a memorandum of understanding. This agreement would solidify the terms and confirm the mutual need for this workforce expansion.
