Officials in Nan province have successfully mediated a situation where a tourist and his son encountered accommodation that did not match their expectations. The incident, which involved a significant difference between the advertised room and the actual state of the lodging, was addressed promptly by local authorities, ensuring a positive resolution for the visitors.
Addressing the Accommodation Issue in Nan
A tourist, identified as Mr. Ko, along with his son, arrived in Nan province for a planned three-day, two-night trip. Their itinerary included a stay in the scenic Sa Pan area of Bo Kluea district for the first night, followed by a night in the provincial town center. However, upon reaching their initial accommodation in Sa Pan, the pair were taken aback by the condition of the room and bathroom, which appeared run-down and in disarray, starkly contrasting with what they had anticipated.
Recognizing the potential impact on the province’s reputation and the visitor experience, representatives from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Nan office and the tourist police swiftly intervened. Anan Seedaeng, the director of the local TAT office, and Pol Lt Col Nathip Kaewpradit from the tourist police met with Mr. Ko and his son on Tuesday to understand the situation and facilitate a resolution.

During the meeting, Mr. Anan extended an apology for the inconvenience experienced by the visitors. He emphasized that the discussion helped to clarify the misunderstanding that led to the discrepancy.
