Pornpawee Secures Spot in Championship Match
Second seed Pornpawee demonstrated strong performance to advance to the final of the Super 500 tournament, overcoming former world champion Nozomi Okuhara of Japan. The closely contested match saw Pornpawee win with a score of 21-18, 11-21, 21-12 after 66 minutes of play.
This marks a significant achievement for the 28-year-old, whose last tournament victory was at the 2025 Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters. Sunday’s final appearance will be her first since the Thailand Open in May of the previous year.
Championship Showdown Set
Pornpawee is slated to face Japan’s top seed, Akane Yamaguchi, in the championship match. Yamaguchi secured her place in the final by defeating India’s third seed, Pusarla V Sindhu, with a score of 22-20, 21-12 in the other semi-final on Saturday.
Other Divisions Reach Crucial Stages
Mixed Doubles
In the mixed doubles category, third seeds Ruttanapak and Jhenicha narrowly missed out on a final berth. They were defeated by China’s second seeds, Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui, in a hard-fought three-game battle that concluded with a score of 9-21, 21-19, 17-21.
Guo and Chen are now set to compete for the title against top seeds Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping, also from China, in an all-Chinese final. Feng and Huang advanced by defeating Presley Smith and Jennie Gai of the United States with scores of 21-16, 18-21, and 21-7.
Men’s Doubles
The men’s doubles final will feature a compelling matchup between Indonesia’s third seeds, Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, and China’s fourth seeds, Chen Boyang and Liu Yi.
Women’s Doubles
The women’s doubles championship will be contested by China’s top seeds, Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian, and Indonesia’s seventh seeds, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari.
Men’s Singles
In the men’s singles event, third seed Alwi Farhan of Indonesia emerged victorious against Jason Gunawan in an all-Indonesian semi-final, with scores of 21-11, 17-21, 21-9. Farhan will now play for the title against either China’s Dong Tianyao, who has reached his first Super 500 semi-final, or Moh Zaki Ubaidillah of Indonesia.
