Thai Riders Secure Dominant Wins at Asian Championships
Methasit has once again claimed the top spot in the men’s elite downhill, securing his fifth consecutive Asian Championship title. In the women’s elite downhill, Vipavee demonstrated her continued supremacy, clinching her tenth Asian title.
Men’s Elite Downhill Results
Methasit powered through the final round, clocking an impressive time of 2 minutes and 25.099 seconds. Japanese competitors Yuga Ikuta and Tesuma Hakuji secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Women’s Elite Downhill Results
Vipavee delivered a stellar performance in the women’s elite downhill, crossing the finish line in 2 minutes and 44.843 seconds. The silver medal went to Milatul Khaqimah of Indonesia, with Naomi Gardoce from the Philippines earning the bronze.
Association President Comments on Team’s Performance
Gen Decha Hemkrasri, president of the Thai Cycling Association, expressed pride in the national team’s achievements. “The two downhill gold medals in the Asian Championships proved that the Thai national team are still No.1 in mountain bike downhill competition,” Gen Decha stated. He added, “But it is a pity that there is no downhill event in the medals competition at the 20th Asian Games in Japan. Otherwise, the Thai cycling team will have a chance to win gold from these two events.”
Upcoming Championship Location Announced
The 2026 Asian Mountain Bike Championships are scheduled to take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from June 23rd to 27th.
