Royal Family Mourns Passing of Princess Bajrakitiyabha
Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, the eldest daughter of His Majesty the King, has passed away at the age of 47. The princess died peacefully at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital on Thursday evening at 7:48 PM.
A team of medical professionals had been providing continuous care and closely monitoring the princess’s condition. Despite their best efforts, her health unfortunately deteriorated.
Background of Illness
Princess Bajrakitiyabha was admitted to the hospital on December 15, 2022. Her initial hospitalization followed a collapse due to a heart-related condition experienced the previous day while she was engaged in training her pet dog in Pak Chong district, Nakhon Ratchasima province.
More recently, since May 21, the royal medical team had been intensely focused on managing a severe and uncontrolled infection. This infection significantly impacted the function of several major organ systems, according to an official statement released on Friday.
Analysis of her medical condition revealed an abdominal infection stemming from inflammation of the large intestine, first detected in April. This led to a period of instability, characterized by low blood pressure, an irregular heartbeat, and abnormalities in blood clotting.
Royal Funeral Rites Announced
His Majesty the King has issued a royal command for the Royal Household Bureau to organize funeral rites befitting the highest honors, in strict accordance with royal tradition. Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha will lie in state at Phiman Rattaya Throne Hall within the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
Princess Bajrakitiyabha was born to His Majesty the King and Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali Krom Muen Suddhanarinatha.
