Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort Concludes Successful Panwa Ocean Week
Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort recently hosted its Panwa Ocean Week campaign, a two-day initiative from June 15 to 16 dedicated to marine conservation and raising awareness about the importance of protecting coastal ecosystems in the Andaman Sea. The event culminated with the release of five young sea turtles on World Sea Turtle Day.
Educational Immersion in Marine Conservation
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program saw active participation from the resort’s management and staff, alongside experts from the Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC). The campaign commenced on June 15 with a visit to the Turtle Nursery Lab. Attendees received an in-depth presentation on the sea turtle lifecycle and assisted in cleaning the nursery ponds crucial for hatchling development.
Following this, the group explored the Andaman Marine Fauna and Flora Museum, an institution noted as the sole museum on the Andaman Coast focusing on marine venomous animals. This visit provided valuable insights into the region’s rich biodiversity.
The day’s activities continued at the Sireetharn Marine Animal Rescue Center. Here, participants engaged in an educational session covering wildlife rescue operations and contributed to cleaning the rehabilitation pools. The center also offered opportunities to observe sea turtles undergoing rehabilitation before their return to the wild.
World Sea Turtle Day Celebrations and Commitment to Sustainability
June 16, designated as World Sea Turtle Day, featured a prominent beachfront event at Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort. The day’s proceedings were initiated with opening remarks from the resort’s general manager.
Marine biologists and specialists from PMBC then led an engaging discussion, highlighting the current state of Thailand’s marine environment and advocating for sustainable conservation practices. The Panwa Ocean Week campaign concluded with the symbolic release of five baby sea turtles into the ocean, a gesture aimed at bolstering local marine population preservation efforts.
Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort stated that the campaign underscores its dedication to operating as a sustainable tourism destination. The resort aims to support eco-tourism initiatives and actively contribute to the protection of Phuket’s natural environment for the benefit of future generations.
