A 57-year-old man, identified as Preecha, has been arrested in Buriram province, Thailand, for the alleged brutal killing of his niece’s pet dog. The incident, which occurred on September 13, involved the man using a hoe to strike the sleeping animal. The dog, a two-year-old male Siberian Husky and Bangkaew cross named Heng, later died from its injuries. The arrest followed the circulation of a video and images on social media showing the deceased dog and a freshly dug grave.

Wathiraporn Yam-ubon, Heng’s 34-year-old owner and Preecha’s niece, shared details of the event with local media. She explained that she had raised Heng from a puppy. Unfortunately, Heng had lost his front left leg in a previous accident. Following this, Wathiraporn moved Heng to her family home, entrusting relatives with his care while she continued to provide financial support for his food and needs.
The situation escalated when a relative discovered bloodstains in Heng’s usual resting area. Upon reviewing security camera footage, the family witnessed Preecha attacking the sleeping dog with a hoe. Wathiraporn expressed profound distress over the incident, labeling it as severe animal abuse and calling for Preecha to be prosecuted.
