A shocking incident unfolded in Bangkok’s Prawet district when a Thai soldier allegedly opened fire on his ex-wife and her new partner, resulting in the death of the boyfriend and critical injuries to the ex-wife. The soldier later surrendered to authorities.

The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 12, at a residence located in Soi Chalerm Prakiat Rama IX 30, Section 28, within the Dok Mai subdistrict. Police from Udomsuk Police Station were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a 19-year-old male, identified as Film, inside a car parked outside the property. Investigators determined that Film had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
Also found at the scene was Film’s girlfriend, 36-year-old Tarn, who is also the ex-wife of the alleged assailant. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her chest, shoulder, and abdomen. Tarn was rushed to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.

Waraporn, the 42-year-old mother of the deceased, provided an account of the events to local media. She stated that both Film and Tarn had returned home from their jobs at a nearby factory around 6 p.m. According to Waraporn, the gunman, Tarn’s former husband, arrived at the house shortly after in a black Mazda sedan as Film was parking the car. Film, noticing the ex-husband’s arrival, reportedly called his mother for guidance and was advised to remain inside the vehicle for his safety.
Tragically, Waraporn reported hearing gunshots moments later. Upon reaching the car, she discovered her son deceased and Tarn severely wounded.
Background of the Couple and Suspect
The owner of the factory where Film and Tarn were employed shared details about the couple’s history. He confirmed that Tarn and the alleged shooter had divorced approximately two years prior to the incident. The employer stated that he had not observed any instances of the suspect harassing Tarn or visiting the factory after their separation.
The factory owner also mentioned meeting the accused, Sergeant Major First Class Nattaphon Chanprasert, 37, during the time he was still married to Tarn. At that time, the employer had not perceived any aggressive behavior from him.
Suspect’s Surrender and Confession
Following the shooting, Sergeant Major First Class Nattaphon Chanprasert surrendered to police at Ban Pong Police Station in Ratchaburi province. He handed over a 9mm Glock pistol, which is believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
