A woman discovered a disturbing foreign object inside a dumpling she bought at a Khon Kaen lakeside market. She only noticed it after eating at home and quickly shared her shocking experience on social media, igniting widespread online discussion.
Vendor Background
Khon Kaen city deputy mayor Nuchaneewan Dondoelert noted that the market hosts permanent stallholders alongside daily traders. The implicated vendor was not a regular stallholder but had sold near the road at the rear entrance of a nearby temple before shifting inside the market on the evening of May 13.
Ongoing Investigation
Municipal public health and environment officials are tracking down the vendor. The public health office requests that anyone who purchased dumplings from the stall bring them in for testing. Confirmation of foreign material will result in penalties for the vendor.
A full market inspection is planned for Friday evening to verify food safety standards, reassure residents and tourists, and uphold Khon Kaen’s appeal as a key tourist spot.
