Forex Investment Probe: Key Names Expected Friday
Authorities are poised to reveal key individuals involved in a significant foreign exchange (forex) investment scheme probe, with an announcement anticipated as early as Friday. The investigation centers on allegations of soliciting investments and conducting unauthorized forex trading.
This development follows a substantial operation executed earlier this week, targeting a network suspected of illicit financial activities. Investigators have been diligently questioning a large number of individuals identified as potential victims and meticulously examining evidence gathered from raids conducted at 24 separate locations. These searches were primarily aimed at securing crucial evidence, and no arrests or summonses have been issued at this stage.
Focus on Financial Records and Witness Testimony
The investigative team is currently analyzing financial records and witness statements to ascertain whether criminal offenses have been committed. Should sufficient evidence be uncovered, suspects could be formally summoned to face charges.
Preliminary findings indicate that a politician currently under scrutiny may not be the owner of a digital wallet connected to the suspected operation. Another significant area of focus for the investigation involves a prominent male actor, identified in local media reports the initial “F.” His residence was among the properties searched by officials.
Politician Denies Involvement Amid Speculation
Amidst growing speculation that MP Pawoot Pongvitayapanu of the opposition People’s Party could be named in connection with the case, he has firmly denied any involvement. Mr. Pongvitayapanu, who has been a vocal critic of the government’s TH-AI Passport project, urged the public to await official pronouncements before drawing conclusions.
Speaking to local media outlets, the lawmaker stated, “I have never been involved in forex activities.” He declined to provide further comment until authorities release the official details of their findings.
