A comprehensive flood preparedness and management plan for Songkhla province and other vulnerable southern regions has received government approval, aiming to bolster defenses ahead of the upcoming rainy season. The announcement came on Wednesday following a crucial meeting of the Joint Public-Private Consultative Committee on Economic Problems (JPPCC), which specifically addressed strategies for mitigating the impacts of both flooding and drought.
Government’s Proactive Stance on Flood Management
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul detailed the government’s coordinated efforts with public and private sectors to enhance flood prevention measures. He emphasized that while nature’s forces cannot be entirely controlled, robust preparation is key to managing their impact. “We cannot overcome nature,” he stated, “But we can take steps to be fully prepared.”
