The Thai government is significantly enhancing its anti-fraud measures by deploying advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This strategic initiative aims to bolster financial security and build confidence among both residents and tourists.
AI-Powered Surveillance and Data Analysis
A cornerstone of this effort is the Royal Thai Police’s SHIELD database. This sophisticated system integrates cross-border financial and intelligence data. Its primary functions include freezing illicit funds, tracking suspects, and dismantling transnational criminal syndicates. The Anti-Cyber Scam Centre (ACSC) is working in tandem with this initiative.
Furthermore, the government is implementing AI-powered surveillance systems through the Intelligent Bird Eye Operation Centre (IBOC). This technology is designed to improve the real-time detection of incidents, particularly within crucial economic and tourist areas.
Enhancing Security and Confidence
By merging international intelligence sharing with intelligent ground-level monitoring, officials are targeting a substantial reduction in financial losses attributed to scams. This comprehensive approach is also intended to elevate safety perceptions for individuals visiting and residing in key zones.
Government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek highlighted the dual focus on financial crime and public safety, underscoring the government’s commitment to creating a more secure environment.
