A recent survey indicates that the incumbent governor of Bangkok is the clear frontrunner for the upcoming re-election. The poll, conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration, surveyed 2,000 eligible voters in the capital.
Governor’s Strong Lead in Gubernatorial Race
When asked about their preferred candidate for city governor in a poll conducted between June 2nd and 4th, a significant majority of respondents favored the current officeholder. 67.30% of participants mentioned Mr. Chadchart as their top choice. A further 10.20% expressed uncertainty about their preference.
Other candidates registered lower support. Chaiwat Sathawornwichit, representing the People’s Party, garnered 8.20% of the vote. Mallika Boonmeetrakool Mahasook received 7.30%, while Democrat candidate Anucha Burapachaisri secured 3.10%. M.L. Kornkasiwat Kasemsri was favored by 1.55% of respondents.
City Council Election Preferences Revealed
The survey also delved into voter preferences for the upcoming Bangkok city council elections, which will see all 50 seats contested. Results from this portion of the poll, also conducted on June 28th and 29th, indicated a fragmented landscape for council seats.
Independent candidates emerged as a significant bloc, with 10.10% of respondents stating they would vote for them. Candidates from the People’s Party followed with 26.50% support. A notable 18.35% of voters remained undecided regarding their council choices.
Democrat candidates attracted 11.50% of the vote, while the Pheu Thai Life Long Tua and Khon Tham Ngan groups each received 6.05% support.
