Rachen has addressed speculation surrounding his recent transfer, stating on his personal Facebook page that the move stems from operational needs rather than personal issues or rumored involvement with Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit’s nephew.
Background on the Transfer
The sudden reassignment followed a phone conversation in which Rachen declined a request, believed to come from the minister’s nephew, to review maintenance procedures for the department’s rainmaking aircraft fleet.
Ministry’s Official Explanation
Sorawut Nuangjamnong, secretary to the agriculture minister, confirmed that Rachen met with ministry representatives on Monday to discuss the reshuffle. He emphasized that the change aims to boost departmental efficiency as Thailand braces for El Niño effects this year.
Despite the transfer, Sorawut noted that Rachen’s resignation from the civil service remains in place, set to take effect on June 23. Officials describe this as a personal choice.
