Authorities Seize Thousands of Uncertified Electrical Products
A significant operation in the Krathum Baen district has resulted in the confiscation of over 33,000 unregulated electrical items. The action was prompted by a complaint from a legitimate importer alleging the misuse of their TISI permit to introduce non-compliant goods into the domestic market for online sale.
Extensive Haul Includes Common Household Appliances
The seized items encompass a wide range of consumer electronics, including electric cooking pots, stoves, extension cords, power strips, adapters, and hair dryers. These products were found to either completely lack the required TISI certification or to display it fraudulently, without proper authorization.
Operator Faces Serious Charges
The individual or entity responsible for these operations is now facing multiple charges. These include the importation and sale of substandard products, as well as the unauthorized use of certification marks. These offenses carry potential penalties including imprisonment and substantial fines.
Warning Issued on Consumer Safety Risks
Officials have issued a stern warning regarding the inherent dangers posed by substandard electrical goods to consumer safety. A directive has been issued to intensify efforts in cracking down on hazardous items, with a particular focus on power banks and extension cords, which are identified as high-risk products.
